SAFETY DATA SHEET Product Name: Project Sparkle (Shipped as ✨ icon) Internal Reference: Q3-ENG-MOD-8.4 Revision Date: Today
1. IDENTIFICATION
Product Identifier: User-Facing Generative Assistance Module, colloquially "The Sparkle". Recommended Use: To be embedded in all user-facing software products (text editors, messaging apps, operating systems, spreadsheets, dating profiles). Intended to increase user engagement, dependency, and session duration. Restrictions on Use: Do not deploy within 500 meters of schools, rehab clinics, or legislative bodies (pending regulatory review).
2. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION
Classification: Category 1 (Acute Cognitive Dependency). May be habit-forming. Chronic exposure may lead to atrophy of critical thinking, originality, and basic writing skills.
Adverse Effects:
- Initial exposure induces mild euphoria and a feeling of effortless productivity.
- Prolonged use results in tolerance, requiring higher-frequency "hits" for the same effect.
- Withdrawal symptoms may include anxiety, intellectual restlessness, and the sudden, terrifying need to formulate a complete sentence on your own.
- Special Notice: In approximately 3-5% of sessions, the product may spontaneously generate politically charged misinformation, also known as slopaganda. This is a known bug we now market as a feature for certain enterprise clients.
3. FIRST-AID MEASURES

In case of Overdose (defined as >200 prompts/day): Do not induce panic. Gently guide the user away from the device. Administer a printed book or a conversation with another human. Effects may be delayed.
In case of Accidental Original Thought: Re-expose the user to a blinking cursor on an empty page. If symptoms of creativity persist, increase the visibility of the ✨ icon and offer a "premium" plan. This usually resolves the issue.
I’m not even sure who I’m writing this for anymore. Is this a warning, or a business plan? The lines get blurry after your third coffee and fortieth prompt of the morning, don’t they?
Here’s a dose of methadone: for the next 48 hours, every time you’re about to click the sparkle, force yourself to first type out the prompt in a plain text file and save it. Just adding that one little step can sometimes break the spell. For a more structured detox, the folks at Time Well Spent have some resources.
